Coaching Programme

Coaching Programme 2025

We can ALL benefit from a bit of practice/coaching, so why not take up the opportunity provided, free, by the Club’s Coaches?

We are offering to run a range of specific and general coaching opportunities for new, improving and more experienced players. These sessions are intended to be practical and to give players a better understanding of the rules of the game and their roles and responsibilities.

These sessions will include during April, May and early June the following areas of activity:

  • Open Day sessions for new bowlers together with up to three free additional sessions.
  • Refresher sessions for more experienced bowlers. These sessions will run at the same time as the “aggregates” are in progress but on alternate Monday’s and Friday’s.
  • A markers course to assist all members but specifically those who are participating in the internal competition singles events.

The initial outline programme and dates are detailed below:

In subsequent months, it is planned to timetable sessions that cover the roles and responsibilities of a lead, a number 2 and a Skip. For our 2024 new members we also plan to run a specific refresher course.

As well as these sessions the coaches are more than happy to provide tailored support to individual members who want to address specific issues for which a diagnostic session on a one-to-one basis will be arranged when video recording will be used.

The overarching aim of these sessions is to help all members realise their full potential by building personal confidence, enhancing enjoyment and improving skills and allowing all to participate fully in the game. This particularly applies to the newer players by giving them the confidence to participate in club matches (friendlies) and to help raise the general standards of play within the Club.

The number attending each session will be limited to four participants, more sessions will be set up if required.

In order to gauge members interest in the opportunities identified above a number of sign-up sheets will be placed on the notice board in the club house and members are requested to sign up so that the coaches can formalise arrangements. Alternatively, you can register by sending an email to the coaches on bethlembowlscoachingteam@gmail.com

Jackie Buckler, Debbie Chappell, Mike Munt and Keith Spencer.
